THE
DOCTRINE OF SUBSTITUTION IN THE OLD TESTAMENT: FULFILLED IN CHRIST

A study
on the blood atonement as seen both in the Old Testament and in its
fulfilment in Christ.
Within
the entire realm of historical Biblical theology there is no doctrine of
greater importance than the concept of the substitutionary sacrifice of
Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God on behalf of sinners. The main purpose
of this book is to establish this doctrine squarely on Old Testament
grounds. Yet, the concept of substitution is incomplete apart from the
fact of its New Testament fulfilment in the sacrificial death of Jesus
Christ on the cross of Calvary. The subject of the substitutionary
atonement is especially pertinent today, when this great truth is being
denied outright as an outmoded theological concept, or at the least it
is being deliberately weakened in its meaning and significance.
